East Ventures on Instagram: "In a panel discussion at our 10th Anniversary event, founders of @ruangguru and @sociolla shared the main reason why they build their respective startups, and how they can reach the inflection point. . @belvadevara and @imanusman explained that they founded Ruangguru because of their personal story who didn’t come from a wealthy background and their struggle to get a good education. At that point, they realized that education is a big (maybe the biggest) problem in Indonesia and almost no one tries to tackle the issue at that time. They admitted that the inflection point came because they have room to explore the market (due to lack of competitors), and their shift from a private tutor marketplace to an educational content platform, and finally to a complete tech-enabled education provider. According to them, a startup can be successful only by focusing on the consumer, not on competitors. . John M. Rasjid and Christopher Madiam said Sociolla is started because they see an opportunity in the beauty industry, where most of the products sold in Indonesia don’t have a license from regulator and hard to buy. Since the early days, they also built a media platform to educate the market. Their business grew further when they started to open the offline stores, where customers can touch and feel the product while Sociolla can still track the data. This move allowed them to touch a new customer base, and serve them better. . Full Video: bit.ly/EVInflectionPoint . #eastventures #startup #venturecapital #ADecadeOfImpact"
